The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed out the Decree № 621/2019 on August, 29 2019 regarding celebrating Remembrance Day of died Defenders of Ukraine, in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. August, 29 2019 is the date when the majority of Ukrainian militaries was died in the Eastern Ukraine.

In addition, sunflowers grown up at that time but they cannot be gathered because of the acting battles and Ukrainian defenders who remain dead. That is why sunflower is the symbol of sorrow for Ukrainian soldiers who died in Donbas. 
 
Eternal memory for the lost defenders of the Fatherland!
