The Minister of Justice of Ukraine determines the development policy in the areas of competence of the Ministry within the framework of the general policy of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the respective areas bringing to the attention of the First Deputy Minister and Deputy Ministers and the State Secretary of the Ministry. The Minister heads of structural units of the Ministry apparatus.
The Minister of Justice determines priority areas of work of the ministry and ways of fulfilling assigned tasks according to strategic documents of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the basis of information prepared by the structural units of the Ministry regarding results of state policy analysis and evaluation of the of its implementation results approves ministry schedule, reports on their implementation.
The Minister supervises the activities of the Ministry while forming state policy in the areas of competence of the Ministry and selects ways of forming state policy on the basis of alternative proposals prepared by the Ministry apparatus.
The Minister of Justice of Ukraine determines the duties of the first Deputy Minister and Deputy Ministers as well as authority assignment between the First Deputy Minister and the Deputy Ministers carrying out in case of his absence.
Within his competence the Minister organizes and controls the implementation by the Ministry of the Constitution of Ukraine, laws of Ukraine, acts of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The Minister of Justice of Ukraine exercises other powers specified by law.
